In celebration of the holiday season, GameStop surveyed its customers about their holiday shopping experiences. Results showed that more than half of all respondents (53%) said they bought a game for themselves or a friend as a gift this year.
And, when it came to favorite games purchased in 2017, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon topped the list with 67% of votes. Other popular choices included Assassin’s Creed Origins (64%), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (63%), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (60%), and Madden NFL 18 (58%).
Looking ahead to 2018, GameStop customers are most excited for two upcoming games: Fortnite Battle Royale and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. More than half of respondents say they’re either very or somewhat interested in these games, which is higher than any other game on the list.
Other top picks for 2018 include Red Dead Redemption 2, NBA 2K18, Grand Theft Auto 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

According to the results of a recent survey by Tellgamestop.com, GameStop customers overall have a positive customer experience when it comes to making purchase decisions and returning/exchanging games.
In fact, almost three-quarters (73%) of customers say they have always been satisfied with their GameStop experiences while just over one-quarter (27%) say they have occasionally been dissatisfied.
These results are largely consistent with those found in other customer surveys conducted by the company, such as its 2015 Consumer Experience Study which found that 87% of GameStop customers would recommend the store to a friend and that 92% of surveyed customers said they were very satisfied with their last purchase from the store.
Interestingly, there are some demographic differences between those who report being satisfied with their GameStop experiences and those who report being dissatisfied. Physical games (36%), digital downloads (34%), and pre-owned games (20%). Since announcing its intention to close more than 1,000 stores worldwide, GameStop has been under fire from customers and the press. But what do they think about the company’s recent changes?
In a new customer survey on www.Tellgamestop.com, 72 percent of respondents said they are “very upset” or “somewhat upset” with GameStop’s decision to close more stores. Additionally, 77 percent of respondents say they will switch retailers if their local GameStop closes down.
Interestingly, there is some hope for GameStop yet: 26 percent of respondents say that if their store closes down, they would move to a competing retailer but only if the competitor had better customer service; 22 percent would move to a different store altogether.
Despite these troubling numbers, GameStop CEO Paul Raines is still optimistic about his company’s future. He told The Wall Street Journal that he believes GameStop can become even bigger by expanding its online presence and offering more services like app downloads and in-store gaming tournaments.
How would customers rate GameStop on customer service?
According to the results of a recent customer survey from GameStop, customers would rate the retailer on customer service at 4.5 out of 5 stars. The vast majority of respondents (92 percent) felt that GameStop’s customer service was excellent or good, and only 1 percent felt that it was poor. Customer satisfaction is key at GameStop and the company takes pride in exceeding customer expectations. According to a recent survey, customers feel that GameStop offers good value for their money. In fact, 82% of respondents said that they believe GameStop offers a good value for what they pay for video game products and services.
This sentiment was echoed by 93% of male respondents and 85% of female respondents. Additionally, 78% of respondents who regularly buy video games from GameStop said that the prices are about right, compared to only 67% who say the same about purchases made at other stores.
